Wareham Rangers Youth Football Club
Parent & Carer Code of Conduct Form
Wareham Rangers Youth Football Club
Parent & Carer Code of Conduct
(Aligned with The FA Respect Programme & Dorset Youth Football League guidance)
At Wareham Rangers Youth FC, we aim to create a safe, supportive, and enjoyable environment where every child can thrive. Parents and carers play a vital role in shaping young players' experiences — on and off the pitch.
By following this Code of Conduct, you help us maintain the values of respect, inclusion, development, and fair play across all age groups.
1. Respect & Positive Behaviour
I will:
Always show respect to all players, coaches, referees, officials, and other spectators.
Applaud effort, teamwork, and fair play from both teams — not just my child’s team.
Never use abusive, threatening, or inappropriate language or behaviour.
Stand behind the Respect barrier at matches and stay out of technical areas.
Accept decisions made by the referee and match officials without argument or protest.
2. Sideline Conduct & Club Rules
I will:
Not coach, instruct, or shout directions to players from the sidelines – that is the coach’s role.
(This includes calling out positioning, tactical instructions, or correcting mistakes.)
Encourage my child to listen to their coach and enjoy the game on their own terms.
Understand that sideline coaching can confuse players and undermine the coach’s work.
Not smoke or vape anywhere on-site, including pitchside or in viewing areas.
Not bring dogs to The Recreation Ground (The Rec) during training or matches, in line with club and local authority rules.
3. Supporting My Child’s Development
I will:
Focus on my child’s enjoyment, effort, and progress — not results or trophies.
Praise positive behaviour, respect, and learning over winning.
Let my child make mistakes — and let the coach help them learn from them.
Encourage my child to be respectful to coaches, referees, teammates, and opponents.
4. Communication & Club Engagement
I will:
Raise any concerns respectfully and away from the pitch, using the proper channels (e.g.
team manager or Club Welfare Officer).
Trust the coaches’ decisions on team selection, positions, and tactics.
Support the club’s volunteers, coaches, and staff, recognising the time and commitment they
give.
Keep up to date with team information and club communications.
5. Safeguarding & Responsibility
I will:
Ensure my child arrives and is collected promptly for matches and training.
Behave appropriately at all club activities, setting a good example for all young players.
Not engage in private communication (in person or online) with children who are not my own.
Report any safeguarding concerns to the Club Welfare Officer immediately.
6. Club & League Compliance
I understand that:
Wareham Rangers Youth FC follows the standards of The FA and the Dorset Youth Football
League.
Breaching this Code of Conduct may result in warnings or removal from matches or club events.
Persistent or serious breaches may result in my child’s exclusion from the club.
